How will Small Group Personal Training work?

If you are already in a group, your spot is saved for you.  For new groups, I will limit the attendees to 4 people so that each person gets my coach’s eye and attention.

You will get an individual workout that I have designed for you.  This may line up with what another client is doing that day, and you can work together (teamwork!).  You may be working independently on a new skill or mobility drill. You may do part of your workout solo and part in a bigger group.  If you have preferences for how you like to work, let me know! I am here to serve you, to make you better, more fit and more independent in the gym so you can get in a workout anytime, anywhere, and feel comfortable with your gym skills.

How will I schedule or sign up for workout sessions?

I will be using the Acuity Scheduling program for all signups.  You can create an account to sign up for classes, reschedule classes, or track how many you’ve used for the month.  The link to my online schedule can be found here.  Payment will not be made through Acuity; I will continue to use Square to invoice and charge monthly memberships.

What if I need to reschedule my regular time?

For both small group personal training and private training, you will have a regular time each week that will be saved for you on the Acuity schedule.  If you need to change for any reason, you will need to sign in and reschedule for an open time.  Reschedules, cancellations and make-up sessions are your responsibility to get in within the month (between the first and last day of the month).  Sessions not rescheduled within the month will be forfeited.  Please contact me ASAP if you know you will be out of town for 2 or more weeks in the month—I will prorate monthly membership if I have at least 2 weeks advance notice.

How long before a session can I cancel or reschedule?

One of the perks of small group personal training is that it gives you more flexibility. Sick child or your work meeting went long?  You can cancel anytime up to 30 minutes before the start of the session, without losing that session.  Private sessions can be rescheduled or canceled up to 12 hours before the session, without penalty.

What if I can’t find time to makeup a missed session?

If you truly can’t find time to make up a session, please let me know.  I have many at-home workouts that you can do, and will periodically be posting more to social media and my website.

That being said, please look ahead in the schedule if you have a planned absence coming up.  Take yourself off the group or session you will miss, and sign up for an opening on another day.

When will you be offering sessions?

All sessions, including small groups and privates, will be Monday-Friday.  I will offer at least one small group training session every weekday, with some days having 2-3 time options.

What if I need to change or cancel my membership option?

Great!  I want to find one that works for you--one that gets you in the gym as many times as possible, preferably, but also one that works for your life.    Let me know at least 14 days prior to the 1st of the month that you want to change levels or cancel your membership.  Changes requested less than 14 days prior to the 1st of the month will be made in the following month.

What if I don’t like the music the rest of my group likes?

Believe me, I get this.  Let’s have a chat and find something that everyone can jam and workout to!

What If my training goals have changed?

Talk to me!  Schedule a coaching call or send me an email.  We might not always have time to discuss during the session, especially if it’s a group session, but we will find a time.  I want to make sure your training plan follows your goals.

What if I’m consistently missing sessions and having a hard time making them up? Or, what if I have a life situation come up that makes it hard to get to the gym?

Talk to me!  Let’s figure out a way to help you.  Life situations and stressors change, and sometimes a break in training helps give you more time to focus on them.  But most of the time, our training will HELP you get through a tough situation, and it will be better for your mental and physical health to keep training through it.  I can always adjust our sessions to fit what you need in your life right now.

Can I bring a friend or visiting family member to our sessions?

It depends.  If the group is full (4 people), I won’t be able to accommodate an extra person, as much as I would like to.  If the group is not full or you have a private scheduled, then yes, of course, as long as you are okay with sharing the hour.

Can two people share the private session (i.e. couples)?

The rate is the same for 1:1 or 2:1 (couple) sessions.  If only one person can make it, the person who missed is welcome to make up the session at a small group opening that same month. If you and a friend would to like to train together, please select the small group training option.

What if it’s a long month (say, 5 Tuesdays)?  Do I have to pay for the extra session?

No!  Your membership covers 1, 2 or 3x/week, so some months you may get lucky and get an extra session.  Conversely, see below:

What if a holiday falls on my regular day to workout?

I will give you plenty of advance notice if I will not be in the gym on a holiday, or if I have a scheduled absence or vacation.  You will have the option to pre-emptively sign up for a makeup session at another time. Some months may have 3 scheduled workouts because of this.  I will do my best to offer extra makeup sessions so you can get in all of your workouts. Holidays with no scheduled workouts include New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

The Strength Collective also has some fantastic trainers who I now call friends and colleagues. They are more than happy to train you in my place, with my guidance and programming.
